It seems this guy is an entitled idiot, who blames everyone else for his problems and is willing to damage important systems (like police investigating racially-motivated attacks) to suit his own needs. Doesn't make racism a non-issue or invalidate legitimate hate crime though, so I'm surprised at the gleeful comments from some commenters. And yes, it would be fair for the public backlash and career implications to be similar to someone making racist comments. Neither are acceptable.

Cancelling Roseanne's show was a business decision. Not firing Smollett would also be one. Don't you want businesses to make their own decisions? It should have legal consequences (which no Roseanne tweet had or should), but I don't care a bit about what happens to his role on the show.
